After My Own is a trio from Carver, Massachusetts formed in 2006 and made a demo, but disbanded shortly after. They reformed as a trio in 2008 and made this demo, recorded in The Chill House in Massachusetts. The music they craft is very original. It's a perfect mix of heaviness, psychedelia, metal, rock, and space. This is all molded into a truly unique sound. Its apparent they take influence form A Perfect Circle, Tool, Kayo Dot, and space bands like Floyd and Hawkwind. Guitarist Justin does all the artwork, and it is just excellent! Beautiful pieces of art!

"Sun In The Water" starts off with a groovy bass line, then the guitars and drums come in with intensity, and it comes off nicely in a modern rock groove. When the vocals come in, the APC influence is extremely present; the guy's voice is extremely similar to APC"S singer. The\is song is very airy, open, and spacey, Things get heavier toward the middle, and an aggressive instrumental section brings us to an extremely emotional close with expressive guitar, pounding bass and drums, and vocals. A great track!

"Seven Arson Rose" starts off even heavier, and when the vocal section comes in, it's an extremely spacey and jazzy with very impressive drum and bass work. Then the heaviness comes in, and a little bit of screaming. Then there's a killer instrumental fill that wouldn't be out of place on a prog-metal album. Then silence. Then a spacey section follows with some more impressive rhythm section work, and some tasty guitar. Then there is a heavy section, followed by a relaxing end.

"Paotlu" is the epic track here. It's an excellent track that showcases all the great things about this band: Raw emotion, aggression, contrasting heaviness and light, and airy sections, and great playing overall. This great piece ends in a minute of silence, with occasional clicks within the silence. A truly great epic

These guys play with a lot of emotion and feeling, and it shows. It makes this music all the better for it. These guys also show they are skilled at their respectable instruments. The guitar player is very versatile, and can play both metal riffage and spacey solos. The bass player is great! He plays some great and interesting basslines, and even puts some nice fills in there now and again. The Drummer is outstanding. He never misses a beat, and plays some KILLER fills and grooves. The vocals are not the best in the world, but they are in tune for the most part and they fit the music very well. Picture Tool's vocalist with a slightly lower tone. The only downside to this recording is the sound quality. Its not terrible, it just sounds a little muffled. Thankfully, this does not take away from the music.

This band plans on releasing a full-length album in 2009, and hopefully this happens! This band has tons of potential, and they create very enjoyable music that leaves you craving for more!! Highly Recommended!
