Trevor Lloyd: Mark Wood 5-string Violin, Roland A-80 Keyboard
James Musser: Drums on “Timewheels”
Trevor Lloyd is a violinist form California. He plays the first-ever Mark Wood 5-string viola Scale violin.
Lloyd is a very good player, who utilizes the most out of his instrument. besides Musser on drums for track 3, there is no other authentic instruments besides violin. Some of the electronic sounds are good (the drum samples), but save for that, its all cheesy sounds. The tracks suffer greatly due to this fact, and it’s a shame because Trevor's playing is quite tasty and lyrical.
This album features great violin playing, and nice cover art. Musser is a decent drummer on “Timewheels” The rest of the album, however, is quite weak. The keyboard sound samples are cheesy, and very obvious (save for the drum sounds), and the songs themselves seem underdeveloped. Perhaps Lloyd would find more success in a group setting rather than solo.
4.5/10
