Green Carnation's album Light of Day, Day of Darkness is a progressive metal masterpiece. It is a single, one hour song that flows through some of the greatest music I have ever heard. The lyrics are based on snippets of poems the guitarist wrote in remembrance and sadness from the loss of his little girl who died of sickness. This album is a must for any Dream Theater, Opeth, Pink Floyd, black metal, or progressive rock fan who likes concept albums, heavy guitars, or lush, mournful, dark and beautiful music.
You really need to sit back and listen to this album on a great sound system or on a good pair of headphones to digest everything in the music that is going on. The guitar work is written and dubbed amazingly good on this album. The keyboards and piano are amazing. And the drums are recorded and played awesome. The weak part of the track is about a half hour into the song everything gets quiet and this annoying Middle Eastern girl starts making these ridiculous sounds over a synthesizer keyboard effect. But then s classical guitar comes back in after the girl shuts up and it is smooth sailing for 20 more minutes. Get this album and you won’t be disappointed.
