Underrated, understated and very much ignored It Bites hailing from UK. Its about time someone told the truth about It Bites! Pop, art rock, prog rolled into one? No? YES! It Bites, that brilliant UK group fronted by the excellent Francis Dunnery: vocals, guitars & songwriter deluxe. With 3 studio albums and a live to their name (although there is a later album/DVD live) these guys were quite unique!

This debut album The big lad in the windmill is just excellent. Imagine if you will, a blend of Pilot/Ambrosia/City Boy and then throw in some very specific vocal arrangements and fine time signature breaks! Just listen to the first track. It will blow your mind! The sheer audacity of the music arrangements then gliding into “All in red” which comes across a pop induced Gentle Giant track !!

Its a great shame that these wonderful musicians didn’t get the recognition they deserved way back then! But hopefully this will make you wanna try out these fine UK pop- progsters!? This debut album is filled to the brim with fine songs and super tunes. And Dunnery´s fine guitar play shines on every track! Every friend of pop prog music should own It Bites! Do check ‘em out. All 3 albums are worth your hard earned money!

Oh, and Dunnery made some fine solo albums too! Come to think of it, It Bites really are the UK counterpart of the fine Canadian prog band Max Webster! Whats that? You do not know Max Webster?! Well shame on you! Ok..ok, that’s a whole nother review!! Meanwhile, go search for It Bites CDs. They might be hard to come by.. but once you get ‘em ooh...great stuff!

I'll return with Max Webster reviews!
