George 'Shadowman' Shelley and Marc Soucy return to the dancefloor, this time working with mixologist John Weston who has experience with film music and with Yo Yo Ma. “Forget” is their second of three releases using ambient textures and deep reggae. The title track is a grooving remix of Patti Barkas’ ad-libbing vocals. The music itself is catchy layers of quick syncopation where the music and vocals coexist as a beat element. The creative dance beats often break down but nothing special really happens, keeping the emphasis on danceable rhythms instead of any real content. The guitar riffs and keyboard work in “Strange Planet” stand out from the repetitiveness and somewhat weak instrumental work. Strong production makes this a exceptional release in its genre. {Many thanks to Melissia Elisa at www.melissiaelisa.com for help on this.)
