Ladies and gentlemen, step right this way. This is a jazzy rollercoasting ride by the powerful trio called: Niacin. This new outing by keyboard wiz (and foremost Hammond B3 virtouso) John Novello, bass guitar extraordinaire Billy Sheehan and fabulous drummer Dennis Chambers. Its just amazing how these 3 can whip up a storm. Just listen to the first track on this album: " Babarian & The Gate" not only the title sounds like something out of an ELP album, the music sounds just like ELP on speed. Fast furious and breathtaking. Only, Niacin grooves into more than rock. You will experience the thundering sounds of jazz / fusion / funk, well blended and sometimes at breakneck speed. Try out track 4 "King Kong" originally by Zappa, opening in staccato style with the great key´s of Novello. What a Hammond player! WOW! I think he’s up there with greats like: Jimmy Smith & Jack Mcduff.
I cant help but imagine what these guys would sound like with a guitar player!? Sorry guys, no offence. You already more than fill the ticket, it’s just my musical curiosity, but it is a nice thought...well, nevermind. This album is a fine follower, in a long string of brilliant albums. My copy has an extra bonus track, if you will, called "Footprints in the Sand" which starts out like a ballad, soon to become yet another powerful excursion into what we come to expect from these 3 brilliant and astounding musicians! If you like the above mentioned features then hurry up and go get this fine album! Time waits for no one!
