A few days ago I was browsing at CDBABY to check out new artists and I found Greg Jones. When I read the title of the album I thought he was just another shredder...... However, I managed to check out the audio files and I was blown away!!! I ordered the CD immediately and let me tell you something, it is worth of every penny. Greg Jones is an outstanding musician, yes A MUSICIAN, and a great guitar player as well. The music is very eclectic, mixing a lot of influences in a very original way, I would call it WHITE MUSIC. See, most of the upcoming artists are looking for darkness and sometimes, the darker the music is, the better......and I have witnessed this, but Greg composes in a different way so every time you play this music you feel a burst of good energy entering your soul. The CD is instrumental and you can hear some influences like Dream Theater (when they cared about the melodies...), Return to Forever and some old Kansas, my old time classic progressive band but again, the music has been composed in a very original way. The production is great and in your face. Actually, I can't believe it is this good!! The mix is superb! The music rocks and it is energized with a solid rhythm section and wonderful guitar playing courtesy of Mr. Jones. I love the tone of his guitar, and I love the way he hit the melodies and every solo in the album. Also, I love the keyboard parts in every song because it pushes them to a new dimension. It clearly shows that he worked so hard to achieve this awesome music and sound. We, the fans of progressive rock have to support independent artists like Greg Jones if we want to have a continuous flow of progressive music in the future, otherwise, we will be forced to play old classics over and over......
