Rarely do I come across a prog metal band who move me. Evergrey have crossed my path and I can’t get out of the way no matter which way I turn. Dream Theater and Threshold are 2 favourites of mine....I now add a 3rd. these guys approach prog metal in a darker way, but retain the melody of class songwriting. Recreation day has found its way into my heart and simply won’t go away. Simply put...it’s an album of top class musicianship and strong songwriting which echoes in some ways a darker Magnum type style and feel....So does the darker feel equal depressing? No sir....The themes are on the darker side, but the music is always uplifting. This Swedish band who I have to admit I had never heard of until I had bought a couple of Threshold albums with those mini booklets of other bands, belong to the great "Inside out" In Germany and the USA and for me are a great and refreshing discovery. If you love your prog metal.....take a walk into the website and listen to some MP3s of this band. Great classic proglike metal with a maturity that will make you eager to hear more.
