This is a Bay Area band that mixes proggy rock and some eastern influences into their music to get an interesting product that somewhat sounds like some of the stuff Led Zeppelin was doing on their later albums (Kashmir). This band is manned by Attila Medveczy who plays the bass and sings, Dave Stevenson who plays guitars and Rusty Aceves who is the drummer. All members play other things within the group in the way of percussion, Tarus pedals, synthesizers, electronic drums and programming. This was recorded in Fantasy records in Berkeley in 2002.

Musically they play a style that is heavier rock but not really metal mixed with middle eastern drum patterns and riffs. The melodies are pretty good, the tunes are mid tempo to slower but are fully developed in the sense that they are all well thought out and arranged. The tunes are done so that they emphasize the story the songs are telling.

Attila's voice is an upper midrangey tenor not unlike John Lennon's. The addition of taurus pedals and synths and the different drum patterns that Rusty employs makes this a very interesting listen. While the songs do sometimes meander for the most part they are all spot on in execution and playing. The guitarist has a tone that is variable and employs tasty leads and fills. To me though I think he uses a touch too much fuzz or overdrive in some sopts. Everything else is well recorded and this sounds wonderful.

My favorite tunes are the third song called "Illumination" and the fifth song called "Smoke and Mirrors". These are the longer tunes on this cd and these go through many changes and are just interesting and memorable in the melodies and placements of the instruments. "Smoke and Mirrors" has a nice guitar riff that meshes well with the tom heavy drum pattern and the melody- entrancing!

This is a pleasant, very good slice of modern heavy rock with proggy elements here and there. It does take some listenings to get all the nuances and everything that is going on.
