In 1988, Queensrÿche released their crowning glory - a progressive metal concept album called Operation: Mindcrime. It tells a story of politics, love, betrayal, evil, religion, murder, etc... It wasn't until their next album, Empire, that they achieved commercial success with their hit “Silent Lucidity”. This success gave them their one and only headlining tour of 1990/91. It was during this tour that they performed Operation: Mindcrime in its entirety. This performance was later released with a video as a box set. This CD is a digitally remastered version of that box set CD (a DVD is soon to follow). I never saw Queensrÿche live, but I have to say this performance is excellent. It sounds like you were there, the quality is overwhelming. The audience participation is fabulous. You can tell they were very familiar with the album. This is a must for fans of Queensrÿche and progressive metal fans. It’s unfortunate that original guitarist/song writer Chris De Garmo left the band in 1998. Creatively, he was the force behind. Without him, they’re just a metal band.
